Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: May 2026

Research by Robin is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technology, have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, have motor impairments, or have cognitive or learning differences.

Given that this practice is built on the principle of designing services that work for real people, accessibility on this site is not optional.

Our target standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. This is the standard recognised across the UK public and private sector as the benchmark for accessible web content.

What we have done

  • Used semantic HTML throughout, including landmark elements (nav, main, footer) to support screen reader navigation
  • Added a skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page
  • Provided meaningful alt text on all informative images; decorative elements are marked with aria-hidden="true"
  • Made all interactive elements keyboard accessible, including the mobile navigation toggle and the service accordion
  • Added aria-expanded and aria-controls attributes to the mobile navigation button
  • Designed with colour contrast in mind: body text (dark forest green #1a3a1f on cream #faf5ec) exceeds the 7:1 ratio, well above the AA requirement of 4.5:1
  • Used relative units (rem, clamp()) for font sizes throughout, so text scales correctly when users increase their browser’s default font size
  • Included a prefers-reduced-motion media query that disables all animations for users who have indicated they prefer reduced motion
  • Ensured the site is fully responsive, working on any screen size without horizontal scrolling or loss of content

Known limitations

We try to be honest about what is not yet perfect:

  • The collapsible service descriptions on mobile use the HTML <details> and <summary> elements. Support for these in older screen readers can be inconsistent. We are monitoring this.
  • Some decorative text elements (for example, the italic terracotta headline words) may have lower contrast against the cream background than the AA threshold for large text. These are used solely for visual emphasis and do not convey information that is not also available in the surrounding text.
  • We have not yet commissioned a formal third-party accessibility audit. We intend to do so ahead of the full practice launch in 2027.

Technical information

This website is built with HTML, CSS, and a small amount of vanilla JavaScript. It does not use any frameworks, third-party UI components, or client-side rendering that might introduce accessibility issues outside our control.

It has been tested manually using keyboard navigation and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.
